The mere
mention of steak immediately gives one a vision of wine and posh restaurants
which can be a little bit intimidating and not really something that you can
indulge to everyday, not unless you are really filthy rich and can afford
eating high-quality beef three times a day.
Good news is
there's this small restaurant in the heart of Quezon City where you can enjoy
sumptuous steaks (and other courses) almost everyday because of its very
affordable prices and wide selection of dishes.

Products/Services:
Brickfire offers savory and tender steaks that will
leave you wanting for more. Aside from steaks, which they are famous for, they
also have other dishes that are also worth trying. Their chunky mashed potato
is superb and one of the best that I have ever tasted. The taste of their
corned beef is not the usual corned beef in the market (admit it or not, almost
all the corned beef out there tastes the same) and their food’s presentation,
Los Indios, for example, is very unique. Who would have thought that a simple
adobo can be presented in a sort of barrel with vinegar on top and hard boiled
egg on the side? Spicy Tuyo, Crispy Tapa, Baked fish with lemon grass – I could
actually go on forever raving how unique and yummy their foods are.

Environment
and Ambiance: Brickfire's ambiance is a far cry
from the usual steak houses but definitely at par or even better, when it comes
to taste. The place is actually small so it's quite uncomfortable to move
around when the place is jam packed.

Staff: Staff is generally friendly and service is very fast.
The owners Tadi Diaz and Aaron Macalinao are also very accommodating and really
know their thing. Being a butcher, it is no surprise that Aaron knows very well
the best parts of the cow’s meat to serve to his customers.
Price: A big serving of their Cowgirl Annie steak is only
Php120 while their most tender and premium beef The Duke can only be availed at Php250.
Come to think of it, this is already affordable if you are going to compare it
to other steakhouses that offer small servings of their steaks for more or less
Php500 already. Their mouth-watering mashed potato is only Php30 while their
adobo (comes in pork, chicken, spicy and sisig) comes at Php89-Php150.

Remarks: Hands down to Brickfire! Almost (I haven't tasted all
of their food yet) all their food are delish. Their steaks are yummy despite
its price and I have to mention the big servings too. I think that Brickfire
would be a hit among students because of its easy on the pocket food. They
should really open a branch soon in Tomas Morato or Taft.
On the other hand, since Brickfire boasts of hot off the
brick-oven steak, then they should hype up on it by letting their guests see
how their food are being cooked in a brick-oven. If they need to show their
kitchen by putting a glass that separates the dining area from the kitchen,
then why not? I bet it will really make the place more interesting to guests
because that's really something unique. Interior design wise, the place looks a
little bland although I must say that the big posters/frames on their wall are a
little interesting. They also need to have a more spacious place to accommodate
guests. I know the place is meant to be cozy but a little more space won't hurt
I guess, especially if someone wants to hold a party in their place.

Considering that Brickfire is still relatively new,
these things are actually forgivable. Anyway, the guests are up for the food
and price, and the restaurant’s design and interior comes secondary only. ^_^ Besides,
I’m pretty sure that they will be able to improve more on the space and design in
the near future. And by the way, I hope they add a desert in their menu. As we all know, meat gives an after taste to some people so a little sweet after a sumptuous steak would help I guess. Don't forget to also mention if you want your steak to be rare, medium or well done.
Postscript: Brickfire will offer a delivery service
soon. They also plan to deliver marinated raw steaks for people who wished to
cook the steaks for themselves. Do watch out for it!
